Admissions

To apply to the Lutheran College Washington Semester program you need to be a student of one of 13 member schools, meet our student requirements, and apply before the deadline.  To obtain an application, please ask your campus representative, print one from this website by going to our forms page, or request one by contacting us at (703) 525-5292.  Complete the application and take it to your campus representative for their approval.  Then send the application, along with the other required materials, to us by email, fax, or mail.

How to Register

For the fall and spring semesters, register at your college for one full semester of academic credit and pay tuition to your college or university.

Required Materials:

  • Completed application form signed by your Campus Representative

  • Non-Refundable Application Fee - Your non-refundable application fee of $250.00 must be received to complete the application process.  Please make checks payable to Lutheran College Washington Consortium, or LCWC.

  • Unofficial Academic Transcript

  • Current Resume

  • Sample Cover Letter - Compose a cover letter for your dream internship, or for a position you would be interested in pursuing.  Use this as an exercise to search for potential internships in D.C., and start thinking of what would make you a strong candidate.  Your draft does not need to be in its final stage; any level of progress will be acceptable.

  • Letter(s) of Recommendation - One letter is required, but two letters are preferred.
Letters of recommendation will be used for internship applications, NOT for acceptance into the Lutheran College Washington Semester (LCWS).  Please ask your recommender to focus on your work ethic, professionalism, and any other qualities that would be relevant in the context of employment.  Letters should be addressed to "To Whom It May Concern," and the recommendation should be for future employment (i.e. "I highly recommend (Student's Name) for an internship with your organization.").  All letters must be on letterhead.

Transportation Grants

All students in the fall and spring semesters will receive a $300.00 Transportation Grant. The grant will be given to students when all outstanding balances due to LCWS have been paid. The grant is designed to help offset the cost of public transportation while in D.C. and, as such, will take the form of a pre-loaded SmarTrip Metro card.
