Happy 40th Birthday LCWS!
SAVE THE DATE
September 26, 2026
In the fall of 1986, students from Muhlenberg College came to DC to participate in a new semester program. Within a year, students from Gettysburg and Roanoke enrolled and the Lutheran College Washington Semester was born. Forty years later, LCWS has had over 3000 students participate from nineteen colleges and universities around the country. This is a milestone worth celebrating!

Planning Committee
Would you like to help us plan our 40th anniversary party? We are looking for 3-4 LCWS alumni and friends to help plan the event and (re)connect with alumni far and wide. If you have experience in event planning, social and digital media, graphic design, or just know how to throw a good party, please fill out this interest form. We are excited to assemble an effective, efficient, and enthusiastic team to help the LCWS staff plan this event.
Social Media Strategist
To generate enthusiasm for our 40th Anniversary, we are looking for someone to develop and help execute a social media campaign. We hope to use this campaign to reconnect with alumni, provide points of pride for our partner schools, and celebrate the impact that LCWS has had on the alumni.
Deliverable
A social media campaign that starts in March and goes up to the event at the end of September (approximately 30 weeks). The Social Media Strategist will deliver a calendar of weekly posts for LinkedIn and Instagram. While LCWS staff will execute the plan, the Social Media Strategist will deliver the design, media content, and written copy for each post.
Terms
This is a project-based position for an independent contractor. The position will begin as soon as the candidate is selected and will end by March 1, when the campaign begins. Regular check-ins with the LCWS team will be established once the position is filled.
Qualifications
We are looking for a creative and experienced candidate that is able to deliver a high quality product. Previous experience in producing social media content for an organization preferred. The candidate does not have to be an LCWS alum, but preference will be given to those who demonstrate an understanding of and enthusiasm for semester-based programs like LCWS.
