A great place to live, learn, and have fun!

Washington, D.C. is not only home to our nation's capital, it is also one of the most amazing cities in the world.  LCWS prides itself on providing a unique and memorable semester experience for students, opening doors to a world of new opportunities for life after graduation. Students live in penthouse condos, commute using the Metro system, and explore the city in their free time truly gaining the real-world experience of living and working in D.C.

 

Whether it's museums, theater shows, sporting events, concerts, memorials, or festivals - just being in Washington, D.C., is an experience of a lifetime.

Housing

While staying with LCWS, students live in two bedroom/two bathroom penthouse condos located in the River Place community in Rosslyn, VA, which is one Metro stop outside of D.C. in Northern Virginia.  River Place is located across Key Bridge from Georgetown, and just two blocks from the Rosslyn Metro Station, providing students with easy access to all areas of Washington, D.C.

Students must provide their own transportation to and from River Place during move-in and move-out.

  • Contact your campus representative.
    Each partner school has a representative for the Lutheran College Washington Semester to recruit for LCWS and work with prospective students as they begin the application process. These representatives will also approve the applications of their students participating in LCWS. Please reach out to your representative to learn about your school's study-away requirements.
  • Gather application materials.
    Before applying, make sure you have the following ready to submit or provide information for: Resume Cover Letter Unofficial Transcript Two Recommenders to submit Letters of Recommendation on your behalf. These letters may either be submitted with the application, or through the “Recommenders” form linked at the top of our website. Campus Representative Approval Important - Cover letters and Letters of Recommendation should not be addressed to LCWS for admission to the program. Instead, cover letters should be addressed to an example internship site and letters of recommendation should be written generally to use to apply to a variety of organizations. For example: "To Whom It May Concern....I recommend this student for an internship with your organization."
  • Submit your application.
    Once you have submitted the form, you will receive a confirmation email from LCWS.

Programming

We believe that building a strong cohort of students is essential to fostering a supportive and engaging learning environment. LCWS programming includes a range of opportunities to bond with your peers and create lifelong memories!

Past programming has included trips, networking events, community service opportunities, alumni connections, and more.
